Mean interspecific divergence (% K2P) at COI plotted against the number of species sampled from each genus of marine molluscs with ≥2 species (N = 123). The correlation was insignificant (P = 0.052; R2 = 0.08). (B) The relationship between intraspecific divergences and sample size within species. Mean and maximum intraspecific divergences (% K2P) at COI plotted against the number of individuals analyzed for 393 species of northwestern Pacific molluscs. The correlation between sample size and mean intraspecific divergence is insignificant (P = 0.27; R2 = 0.024) as well as the maximum intraspecific divergence (P = 0.56; R2 = 0.085).
