Influence of arbuscular mycorrhizal (AM) fungal inoculation on carbon concentration in shoots of tobacco plants. The concentration of carbon (C) was measured in shoots of 8-week-old tobacco wild-type (WT) plants and transgenic lines with root-specific (W6:CKX1) or constitutive (35S:CKX1 and 35S:CKX2) reduction of cytokinin levels inoculated with the AM fungus Rhizophagus irregularis strain RI, strain FM or their co-inoculation (RI + FM) and compared to the respective non-AM (NAM) control plants. Values are means + SE. n = 10. For each parameter, bars topped by the same letter are not significantly different (p < 0.05) according to Duncan’s multiple range test
