(A) GV (germinal vesicle) oocytes were cultured for 44 hour. Cumulus cell expansion occurred in control group, while after exposure to HT-2 toxin, cumulus cell expansion failed. A large proportion of oocytes developed to MII stage in the control group, showing with a polar body; while most of oocytes in treatment group failed to develop to the MII stage with no polar body. (B) The rate of oocyte polar body extrusion after HT-2 treatment, indicating that the oocytes maturation decreased significantly after exposure to HT-2 toxin. At least three independent experiments and more than 30 oocytes were examined in each experimental group. *p < 0.05.
