The effects of RYGB on body weight are similar in FGF21−/−and WT mice. A, B: Absolute and percent change of body weight in wildtype and FGF21−/− mice. WT (open triangle, n = 12) and KO (closed triangle, n = 23) mice were exposed to a high-fat diet for 12 weeks and then subjected to either RYGB (RYGB WT, open circle, n = 4; RYGB KO, closed circle, n = 9) or sham surgery (Sham WT, open square, n = 4; Sham KO, closed square, n = 7). The surgery effect (Sham vs. RYGB) was highly significant for both genotypes after the first post-surgical week. *p < 0.05, Sham KO vs. Sham WT mice (based on Bonferroni-corrected multiple comparisons after one-way repeated measures ANOVA).
