Leptin deficiency protects from the development of lupus autoantibodies. Plasma from WT and leptin-deficient ob/ob mice was tested by ELISA at 3, 5, and 7 mo after pristane treatment for levels of different autoAb. Except for anti-histone autoAb, differences in autoAb levels were significantly higher in WT mice compared with ob/ob mice.
