Leptin favors T-cell autoreactivity in NZB/W mice. In vitro T-cell proliferation to anti-DNA Ab-derived peptides p34 and p58 or to irrelevant control peptide pHyL, in the presence (closed bars) or not (open bars) of 100 ng/mL leptin. Purified CD3+ T cells from 30-wk-old NZB/W mice were cultured for 72 h with irradiated splenocytes in the conditions indicated on the x axis, and cell proliferation was assessed by labeling cultures with [3H]thymidine during the last 18 h.
