Figure 7

The protection from STZ + AGEs-induced cell toxicity. The renal tubular epithelial cells (LLC-PK1) in vitro were treated with STZ (8 mM) + AGEs (3 mg/mL) causing cell gluctotoxicity at 24 and 72 h. Co-treatment of LIOP (100 and 300 μg/mL) and RS (100 μg/mL), the protective effects from cytotoxicity were determined by MTT. Each value represents the mean ± SE of three replicate experiments, and the results are expressed as population growth (control as 100%). *: p < 0.05, **: p < 0.01 significantly different from at day 0 in same treated group. #: p < 0.05, ##: p < 0.01 significantly different from dd.H2O group at day 1 or day 3. dd.H2O: vehicle control; RS: rosiglitazone; LIOP: Low-molecular-weight, 10–100 kDa polysaccharides from Inonotus obliquus extract.
