Translucent, capsule-negative strains are attenuated in a Galleria mellonella model. Kaplan-Meier survival curves of G. mellonella worms infected with 5 × 104 CFU of capsulated wild-type AB5075 or uncapsulated AB5075 strains. Curves were compared using the Mantel-Cox test with Bonferroni's correction for multiple comparisons. Capsulated AB5075 displayed significantly increased mortality in comparison to the other strains (P < 0.0006).
