Triptolide treatment increases the expression of ABCA1 but has no effect on LXRα. ApoE/ mice were given a high-fat diet from week 8 after birth and then treated with 25, 50 or 100 µg/kg TPL every 2 days. At week 16, macrophages from the different group were prepared. (A) Expression levels of LXRα and ABCA1 were determined by western blotting. (B) Expression levels of LXRα and ABCA1 determined by capturing the gray value of every band and analyzing them using imageJ software; the expression ratios LXRα/Ctrl. and ABCA1/Ctrl. are shown. Expression levels of LXRα and ABCA1 in wild-type mice were used as controls. **P<0.01 vs. the ApoE/ group. ApoE, apolipoprotein E; TPL, triptolide; Ctrl., control (wild-type mice); ABCA1, anti-ATP-binding cassette transporter A1; LXRα, liver X receptor α.
