Blood bacterial burden is lower in North American ST28-infected mice but similar in ST1, ST25 or Eurasian ST28-infected mice during the systemic infection. C57BL/6 mice were inoculated by intraperitoneal injection with 5 × 10⁷ CFU and blood bacterial titers evaluated 24 h (A); 36 h (B) and 48 h (C) post-infection (p.i.). Data of individual mice are presented as log₁₀ CFU/mL with the geometric mean. Significance between groups is indicated by different letters (p < 0.001).
