Taqman analysis of FAIM2 mRNA expression was done in 16 frozen typical carcinoid and 8 atypical carcinoid tumors in the lung. FAIM2 was significantly more highly expressed in atypical carcinoid tumors while low or no expression of FAIM2 was detected in typical carcinoid tumor samples (p = 0.007).
