Shown is the sequence of MntC with amino acid numbering used to identify specific structural elements referred to in this study. Secondary structural elements (rectangles – α-helices, block arrows – β-sheets) are mapped onto the sequence, based on the published three-dimensional structure of MntC (4K3V) [4]. Short β-sheets formed by residues 108–110 and 119–122 are defined in only one of the two MntC molecules in the crystallographic unit, hence they are designated β4’ and β4”, respectively, in order to maintain consistent labeling between the two molecules of the unit.
