Protection against T. cruzi in animals receiving the immunotherapeutic vaccine during the acute phase of infection. C3H/HeN mice challenged with a lethal dose of RA trypomastigotes were treated by intramuscular route with 2 doses of 100 µg of a naked (n) plasmid encoding the Cz gene (nCz) or the GM-CSF gene (nGM-CSF), or both plasmids simultaneously (nCz+nGM−CSF). Control mice were treated with a plasmid without an insert (nEmpty). (A) Parasitemia determined every 2–3 days in fresh blood. The symbols represent the media ± the standard error.
