Schematics of a single SF links to the substrate: (a) only via two FAs and (b) via multiple distributed anchors along the actin bundles. As shown in (a), an SF is composed of sarcomeric units in series, including actin filaments, myosin II motors, c-titin, and cross-linker (α-actinin) proteins.
