The concentrations of IL-8 and IL-1β were determined by ELISA. PMNs from healthy (n = 7) and diabetic patients (n = 4) were pre-treated by glutathione (GSH) or N-acetylcysteine (NAC) at varied concentrations (6.25, 12.5, 25 and 50 mM) and then infected with B. pseudomallei in MOI of 0.3:1. The supernatants were collected at 18 h.
