Results of the integration experiment. (A) Pupil responses across light levels to combined stimuli: photopic luminance (L+M) condition, isochromatic luminance and melanopsin condition (LMS+I), and isochromatic luminance and rod condition (LMS+R). The LMS condition is shown in all panels for comparison purposes. (B) Phase paradigm results at 3.3 log Td and 2.3 log Td. Phase of melanopsin excitation was varied with the invariant phase of luminance stimulation (column I), S-cone excitation (column II), or chromatic red-green stimulation (column III) maintained at the same phase. Model fits based on the predictions (Figure 3) appear in each panel. Data points are the average of three subjects' results and the error bars are SEM.
