Curcumin decreases the expression of P2X7R in PMA-induced macrophages. (A,B) THP-1 cells silenced for purinergic 2X7 receptor (P2X7R) were processed to obtain a whole-cell extract as described under the Section “Materials and Methods”. The expression of P2X7R in cells were transfected with P2X7R or negative control (NC) siRNA. (C,D) The expression of NLRP3 and cleavage of caspase-1 and IL-1β in cells were transfected with P2X7R or negative control (NC) siRNA. (E,F) THP-1 cells were pretreated with curcumin in the presence of PMA for 48 h.
