Lady Health Worker Maternal Health Responsibilities
• Counsel and vaccinate all women (15–49 years of age) of their area for tetanus
• Keep record of pregnant women of their respective area for advice and referral
• Advise pregnant women about:
o Healthy diet
o Accessing antenatal care from a health facility
o Exclusive breast feeding
o Uptake of offered iron and folic acid tablets
• Maintain liaison with TBAs in their area for safe birth and to refer women to local health facility as required
• Identify danger signs during pregnancy, delivery and postpartum and refer appropriate women to a health facility
