Mean age was significantly higher in MDs patients (33.6 ± 18.7 years old; p < 0.01) and disease controls (41.4 ± 17.2 years old; p < 0.001) than in healthy controls (23.6 ± 13.7 years old). Mean BMI was significantly lower in MDs patients (17.4 ± 3.3 kg/m2; p < 0.001) than in healthy controls (19.1 ± 3.0 kg/m2) and higher in disease controls (21.7 ± 3.8 kg/m2; p < 0.001) than in healthy controls (19.1 ± 3.0 kg/m2).
