H&E stained representative bone marrow sections. Nonradiated group whether handled by hydrogen (b) or not (a) showed active hematopoiesis. As the radiation doses ascended ((d) 1 Gy, (f) 2 Gy), the hematogenesis was attenuated represented by the decreased cellularity of nucleated cells and the increased number of vacuoles. However, in cases of hydrogen ((c) 1 Gy, hydrogen; (e) 2 Gy, hydrogen), hematopoietic cell density became almost as high as the vehicle group. Pictures were taken randomly at 400-fold magnification.
