Asap affects early-embryo Golgi organization. Side views and single cross-sections at or below the nuclei of control, Asap, Arf1, and AP-2α RNAi embryos expressing histone-mRFP for visualization of nuclei and stained for GM130 and LqfR for markers of the cis- and trans-Golgi, respectively (embryos at interphase). cis- and trans-Golgi compartments abnormally aggregate in Asap and Arf1 RNAi embryos (brackets in side views and inserts of single sections). AP-2α RNAi embryos display nuclear disorganization similar to that of Asap and Arf1 RNAi embryos but not the Golgi disorganization. Quantification of Golgi disruptions is presented below.
