The CGRP sensor was identified in S. aureus (SA) and S. epidermidis (SE) membrane extracts by immunoprecipitation using CGRP antibody-associated beads. CGRP was associated with a 70 kDa apparent mass protein that was identified by tandem mass spectrometry as the chaperone protein DnaK. The lactonase QSDA was used as a control. The results are representative of three independent experiments.
