R2 = coefficient of determination. The histopathology assessments were converted to scores (minimal = 1, slight = 2, moderate = 3, and severe = 4) and averaged over all replicates in a condition. The R2 was determined through linear regression of the averaged histopathology grade and the activation of the module by the positive instances of the injury.
