Anti-inflammatory activity of spongosine. Purified spongosine isolated from Tectitethya crypta was tested for its ability to inhibit the LPS-induced inflammation response in RAW cells. Bars are means (n = 6 treatments) ± standard error. Significant difference of treatments from the LPS control were determined using ANOVA followed by Dunnett's multiple comparison procedure *p < 0.05; ****p < 0.0001. Compounds did not significantly alter cell viability (measured as absorbance at 570 nm) in the MTT assay compared to control (p > 0.05) (data not shown).
