aExcluded from mean coordinates (because not cluster peak).

The x, y, z coordinates of SMG activation reported in previous fMRI or PET studies of phonological decisions or pseudoword reading that used alphabetic stimuli. No SMG activation was observed when the stimuli were presented in the auditory modality (Shuster 2009) or when reading aloud pseudowords was compared with lexical decisions on pseudowords (Carreiras et al. 2007). When coordinates were given in Talairach space, they were converted to MNI space (*converted from Talairach space using the tal2icbm transformation, Lancaster et al. 2007). nr, no SMG coordinates reported.
