The black curve shows the MMSE optimal estimates, which largely veto disparity when luminance and texture agree. The dashed black curve shows the estimates based on linear cue combination (the LR estimator). For the LR estimator, disparity pulls the estimates in the direction of 45° when luminance/texture cue is in the range of 70° to 130°.
