^aThe K_{m_app} and V_{max_app} values of pTP deoxycytidylation by polymerase in the initiation reaction were calculated from Lineweaver–Burk plots (0.6–20 μM dCTP) based on at least two independent experiments for each pTP. The K_{m_app} and V_{max_app} of D582R pTP could not be determined since the initiation activity of this mutant was below the detection limit.

^bk_{cat_app}/K_{m_app} ratio describes the catalytic efficiency of initiation. k_{cat_app} was calculated from k_{cat_app} = V_{max_app}/E_t, where [E_t] is the total amount of enzyme (pol).
