PKIB promotes the proliferation and metastasis of NSCLC cells by activating the PI3K/Akt pathway. (a) Overexpression of PKIB increased the levels of Akt phosphorylation at Ser473, but the total Akt levels were not significantly affected by PKIB. (b) Knockdown of PKIB decreased the level of Akt phosphorylation. (c,d) The increased cell viability and BrdU incorporation elicited by PKIB overexpression were attenuated by blocking the PI3K/Akt pathway. (e,f) Inhibition of the PI3K/Akt pathway with LY294002 resulted in decreased migration and invasion of the PKIB-overexpressing A549 cells.
