THY-1 colocalizes with HCMV virions inside macropinosomes. HCMV virions (blue arrows) colocalized with 5-nm-gold-labeled THY-1 (red arrows) inside large intracellular vesicles with diameters greater than 200 nm, a hallmark of macropinosomes. In 29 fields, we observed 70 virions and 296 labeled THY-1 particles inside macropinosomes, with 134 THY-1 particles in direct association with virus. Two representative fields are shown.
