Individual example of (a) a representative actogram and (b) the corresponding periodogram from circadian experiment A. The rat was first exposed to LD for 10 days, and subsequently to LDim for 30 days and constant darkness (DD) for 20 days. LDim exposure reduced the rhythmic strength of the 24 h rhythm and induced a second free running rhythm of 25.1 h (arrow) that interfered with the 24 h rhythm. During the first 10 days of DD, rhythmic strength was low, but during the following 10 days DD rhythmic strength returned.
