Fructose intake and the relative risk of gout. Forest plot of prospective cohort studies investigating the relationship between total fructose intake and incident gout. Estimates from most-adjusted multivariate models accounting for percentage of energy from total carbohydrates were used. The diamond represents the pooled effect estimate. Interstudy heterogeneity was tested using Cochran Q statistic and quantified using the I2 statistic (I2≥50% indicative of significant heterogeneity). All results are presented as risk ratios (RR) with 95% CIs.
