Thermogram (TGA) of P. phalangioides silk fibers. For heavily I2-doped silk fibers, the thermogram shows a reduction of TC from ∼319 °C to 294 °C and an ∼7% increase of carbon yield. For the heavily I2-doped silk fibers, the weight residue was normalized with respect to the initial weight of silk fibers before I2 doping. After I2 doping, the weight increased by ∼10%. Ti indicates the temperature at which the physisorbed I2 has evaporated; above Ti, the chemisorbed I2 starts to be removed.
