The response of leucine incorporation to substrate concentration. The maximum rate of incorporation at saturating substrate concentration (V_max; pmol L⁻¹ h⁻¹) and the half-saturation concentration (K_t; pmol L⁻¹ h⁻¹; the substrate concentration where the incorporation rate is equal to half of V_max) were obtained by direct non-linear fit of the data with the Marquardt algorithm (Marquardt, 1963), assuming incorporation followed Michaelis-Menten kinetics.
