Treg/Th17 ratios are context-dependent in lung cancer patients and associate with disease pathogenesis and outcome of lung cancers. Blue arrows indicate negative relationships, and red arrows indicate positive relationships. Balance beams indicate correlation among Treg and Th17 cell subsets, with intermediate IL-17+FoxP3+ phenotypes present at the centre to indicate that these cells may contribute to cell ratios. The Treg/Th17 ratio has been primarily assessed in pleural effusion and peripheral blood in malignant and non-malignant pleural effusions.
