(A) The growth rate of the wild type strain (ATCC 17978), the LPS (Lipopolysaccharide)-deficient mutant (A-4-60, XH193) and the LPS-modified mutant (C-1-12, XH198) in MH and fetal bovine serum (FBS). The wild type strain (ATCC 17978), LPS-deficient mutant (A-4-60, XH193), and LPS-modified mutant (C-1-12, XH198) were grown in MH and FBS at 37°C. The growth rates of the strains were determined by measuring the OD₆₀₀ every 5 min and were estimated by an R script based on the OD₆₀₀ curves. Each strain represents four biological and four technical replicates.
