Nrf2a translation was blocked by an Nrf2a MO injected at the two- to four-cell stage in zebrafish embryos. Real-time RT-PCR was used to quantify transcript abundance in whole zebrafish larvae at 76 hpf after a 4 hour exposure to 150 µM Cd. Relative fold change was determined by comparing all changes in gene expression to the non-injected controls (0 µM Cd). Statistically significant induction in response to Cd exposure was determined using a two-way ANOVA followed by a Bonferroni post hoc test (*p-value < 0.05). All values are normalized to 18S ribosomal RNA. Error bars represent one standard deviation; n = 3 biological replicates of 20 pooled embryos per treatment.
