Mean startle response by Load and Group. (a) Adults had greater eye-blink responses during the 3-back task than the 1-back or 2-back tasks. Adolescents showed no differences in eye-blink responses as a function of load. In addition, the startle response was lower in adults than in adolescents in the 1-back task, while the opposite was found for the 3-back task.
