Alternative pathway-mediated complement activation on A. fumigatus in 40% normal human serum. C3b deposition was measured on A. fumigatus (1 × 10⁷ conidia/ml) after incubation in 10 and 40% NHS under following conditions: barbital buffer, 10 mM Mg/EGTA, and 10 mM EDTA. C3b deposition was measured by flow cytometry and expressed as mean fluorescence intensity (MFI). Results represent the means of three independent experiments ± SD, *p ≤ 0.05 (one-way ANOVA, Bonferroni’s multiple comparison test).
