Ependymoglial cells specifically up-regulate c-Fos expression 1 day post injury. Immunohistochemical analysis with anti-c-Fos antibody of 1 day post injury spinal cords shows c-Fos is highly expressed by ependymoglial cells adjacent to the site of injury (A–C). c-Fos+ cells were quantified in uninjured, 1, 3, 7 and 10 day post injury spinal cords and increased c-Fos expression is only observed in 1 day post injury spinal cords (D).
