KIRC examples. First column: Tumor; Second column: Normal; Third column: Stromal. Note that (a) in the first column, there are two different types of tumor corresponding to clear cell carcinoma, with the loss of cytoplasm (first row), and granular tumor (second row), respectively; and (b) in the second column, staining protocol is highly varied. The cohort contains a significant amount of tumor heterogeneity that is coupled with technical variation.
