  • Selection of initial imaging modality is dependent on the clinical question that needs answering.

  • Non-contrast CT excludes the presence of a neurosurgical emergencies; hemorrhage, herniation, or hydrocephalus.

  • Unless otherwise contraindicated; contrast enhanced MR imaging is the screening modality of choice to exclude the presence of brain parenchymal metastatic disease.
