Mice deficient for both IL-17RA and IL-22, TNFα deficient mice and wild-type mice were exposed to M. tuberculosis as above and monitored for body weight and survival (A). Lung and spleen relative weights (B), and pulmonary bacterial load (C) were measured at 1 month for TNFα-deficient mice and up to 6 months post-infection for IL-17RA-IL-22-deficient and wild-type control mice. Results are expressed as mean +/− SEM (n = 13–14 from 3 experiments at 1 month, n = 7–8 from 2 experiments at 2 months and n = 11–12 from 3 experiments at 6 months). Bar graphs summarise scoring of cell infiltration in the parenchyma and free alveolar space at these time points (D) (n = 7–9 mice per group from 2 independent experiments).
