Comparison of the spatial sensitivity of the moment analysis of individual DTOFs (filed circles) and the moment subtraction method (open circles). The calculations were carried out for (a) Δr_D = 0.3 cm and (b) Δr_D = 0.5 cm. Results are presented for three different thicknesses of the middle layer (d₂ = 0.5-1.5 cm) located at fixed depth 1 cm from the surface of the model and for the source-detector separations given in Table 1. In all simulations μ_a was 0.15 cm⁻¹ for the middle layer and 0.10 cm⁻¹ for the other two layers.
