Infection of the two macaques was monitored by collecting plasma samples for 62 days and measuring viral RNA levels by quantitative real time RT-PCR for SIV Gag (Duke Human Vaccine Institute). Results are only shown for animal m328-08 in which SHIVenv infection was established. b The SHIVenv_B3 was used to infect three other rhesus macaques of Indian origin.
