The 6 in vivo DBL-transcripts are denoted d0_37, d0_30, d0_2, d0_1 and d0_23. The corresponding in vivo MOA DNA DBLs from days 7 and 28 are also indicated. All in vivo transcripts were present in the 19 MOA clones (Fig 1B). Among 6 identified individual var transcripts, d0_37 was most abundant in two independent cloning experiments. Transcription of the cDNA var DBLs was confirmed by Quantitative Real-Time (qRT) PCR with gene specific primers (data not shown).
