The inputs to the PCA were the weighted averages for the 13 rubric sections (listed along the y-axis), and PC 1 is the best linear combination of those rubric section scores, in terms of retaining the most variance from the original input variables. The horizontal bars represent the correlation between each individual rubric section, and PC 1, among the 26 full data sets. This correlation indicates how strongly each rubric section was associated with the overall pattern of variation in the data across all rubric sections.
