Gross changes of colon from dextran sulfate sodium (DSS)-treated wild-type (WT) and transglutaminase 2-deficient (TG2−/−) mice. (a, b) Age- and sex-matched wild-type and TG2−/− mice were treated with 2% DSS water for 8 days and water for an additional 2 days (a) or 3.5% DSS water for 5 days (b). After mice were killed, colons were separated and photographed (n=4 for each group). (c) Length of colon was measured in the survived mice and graphed as the mean±s.e.m. values.
