Data were collected from 20 fields analyzed in 5 ultrathin sections from 2 blocks of transiently transformed protoplasts according to Griffiths (1993). In sections incubated either in the absence of antibody or with preimmune serum, less than 1 gold particle per 10 μm−2 was seen. The means ± sds are given. gp, gold particles.
