Regenerated corneal epithelial cells on the implant surface (A), and intact epithelium of the normal cornea (B). Anterior stromal cell nuclei (C, D) and posterior stromal cells (E, F) were present, with no Langerhans cells or any other typical inflammatory cells immersed within. The endothelium (G, H) in all corneas exhibited a characteristic mosaic pattern.
