Quantification of collagen I and collagen III mRNA levels. No significant differences were observed between collagen I (a) and collagen III (b) mRNA levels within myocardium from infarct, border, and remote zones at one week after MI. At four weeks after MI, large increases in collagen I (c) and collagen III (d) mRNA levels were observed in the Empty Bead group in both infarct and border regions and this was significantly higher than the CellBead-MSC and CellBead-MSC + GLP-1 treated groups for collagen III.
